Masseria Torre Coccaro, a luxury 5-star resort, is considered one of the most renowned masserie in Puglia. During our short stay in this charming place, we felt pampered from start to finish and with the desire to return soon! This masseria is located in Savelletri di Fasano, in the heart of Puglia, a few Km away from the sea, surrounded by centuries-old olive trees, carob and almond trees. Masseria Torre Coccaro boasts 36 rooms and suites that offer several high-end amenities. In addition, the masseria offers its guests a built-in stone spa, golf course, outdoor swimming pool, the restaurant Egnathia and much more. So let’s start taking a deeper look at this 5-star luxury resort.
History and structure
The masseria dates back to the 16th century, protected by its walls and surrounded by extensive lands of olive and almond trees. Its courtyard boasts a consecrated chapel from 1730 as well as the defense tower. In the past this tower was a place of defense against the raids of the Saracens, today it’s part of the 5-star resort. Furthermore, the central structure of the masseria which includes rooms and suites was built around the tower and the courtyard. Most of the buildings of Torre Coccaro have red and whitewashed walls, typical of the Apulian masserie. This beautiful combination of white and red is easy to find in every corner of Masseria Torre Coccaro. Also, in spring the outer facade of the entrance wall leading to the main courtyard is filled with pink-purple bougainvillea flowers (wow!).
Rooms and Suites
Each of the 36 rooms and suites boast high-end amenities in a perfect blend of elegance and rusticity. The entry-level category is the superior rooms, only 80 meters away from the central area in a quiet setting. The suites, some located in the ancient tower others in the surrounding area, offer different aspects and exclusive services. Also, Masseria Torre Coccaro offers some suites in caves with a heated swimming pool. Our favorite suite is definitely the Aranceto Suite. This 100 sqm suite located in an ancient cave boasts an outdoor garden with a private heated pool within a centuries-old orange grove. Also, inside the cave, there is a large Jacuzzi for four people and a romantic stone fireplace. You’ll never leave this place!
Restaurant and food
Masseria Torre Coccaro offers its guests three restaurants with a different culinary proposal. Egnathia is the main restaurant located in the old part of the masseria with indoor and outdoor tables. Inside the restaurant is located in an old barn with star vaults of the seventeenth century. The dining room continues in a graceful pergola wrapped in Devil’s ivy. Also, in the summer the restaurant extends onto the outdoor terraces overlooking the countryside panorama.
During our stay, we dined in this restaurant under the pergola with selected dishes of the Apulian tradition made with local raw materials. In addition, the Egnathia restaurant offers a fantastic breakfast every morning, one of the best 100 in the world! With a wide choice of foods, from salty to sweet, you’ll find many delights that will make your breakfast extremely satisfying. The second restaurant of the masseria is called Cabana. This poolside restaurant offers a light menu with salads, pasta, grills and homemade ice cream. Finally, Le Palme Beach Club restaurant located on the beach offers fish cuisine and tasty sushi.
Activities and well-being
From cooking classes to nature walks on horseback, Masseria Torre Coccaro offers countless activities for its guests. These activities also include some sports such as golf in particular. In fact, the farm boasts one of the best golf courses in Puglia. Furthermore, numerous activities have been designed exclusively for children such as swimming lessons and games on the beach.
Remember that Torre Coccaro has two beautiful private beaches called Coccaro Beach Club and Le Palme Beach Club. In addition, the Coccaro Beach Club has been included in the “Best 10 Beaches of the Mediterranean” by The Times and for the Mr & Mrs Smith Guide.
Aveda Spa offers massages and specific treatments based on natural products. In addition, this wellness center boasts a romantic swimming pool created inside natural caves. The resort has a gym and organizes Yoga, Pilates and Taichi classes.
