Where to eat in Santorini – Food Guide

where to eat in santorini

Wondering where to eat in Santorini? As well as being famous for its fantastic views of the caldera and its endless sunsets, Santorini has a wide variety of foods offered by hundreds of taverns and restaurants all over the island. There is nothing better than a tasty Greek dinner after a long day at the beach and around the island. In this guide, we have collected all our culinary experiences in Santorini, from restaurants and taverns to afternoon bars and ice cream parlours.

-Roka Kafeneio Ouzeri

Roka is a Greek cuisine restaurant settled in an old building from 1912 in Oìa. It is located on a side street away from the crowds, and the interiors have bright coloured walls, trees and flowers which create a pleasant and relaxing feeling at the same time. In addition, we remember there is an area with games for children. The food is excellent and well presented, although a bit heavy, like almost all Greek cuisine. The menu is not very long, but we liked the dishes ordered; the wine list is also good.

Address: M. Mpotsari 6, Oìa

Opening times: 13-21

Pricing: 30-40€/pers.

-Melenio

We discovered this bar/pastry shop by chance walking through the main street of Oìa because we were looking for an after-dinner dessert. Choice was never more apt! The upstairs has a breathtaking view and we returned for two evenings in a row and for a coffee/dessert after lunch the last day. We loved their orange pie, really to die for! Their cold cappuccino and cheesecake were also excellent. In short, this place is our favourite after dinner in Oìa!

Address: Nikolaou Nomikou, Oìa

Opening times: 9-23:45

Pricing: 5-15€/pers.

-Melitini

We had a quick lunch at this Greek tapas restaurant. Not so far from the main street, it has a nice terrace where a refreshing breeze blows on a hot day. However, we believe that a strong wind can spoil a good dinner here. The tapas we’ve tasted are quite tasty especially if accompanied by a drink. Moreover, the service is young, friendly and quick.

Address: Epar.Od. Firon-Ias, Oìa

Opening times: All day

Pricing: 10-20€/pers.

-Lefkes

Located in the traditional village of Finikia this restaurant offers excellent Greek cuisine in a refined and well-kept environment (take a look at the bathroom). The staff is very kind and welcomed us with a lot of warmth and sympathy. We had booked a nice table for two above the staircase overlooking the street. We ordered delicious appetizers, meat and a dessert to finish the dinner. Book here if you want to spend a quiet evening with good food in the village of Finikia.

Address: Finikia

Opening times: 01pm-12am

Pricing: 30-40€/pers.

-To Briki

We had one of the most romantic dinners in this restaurant located in the village of Firostefani. In fact, To Briki has a breathtaking terrace! We highly recommend that you book your table for dinner just before sunset in order to enjoy an amazing view of the caldera with a good glass of wine or champagne. The food is good, but not the best on the island. Therefore, keep in mind that you come here for the view and not for the food as a priority.

Address: Firostefani

Opening times: 10am-11:45pm

Pricing: 35-50€/pers.

-Parea Tavern

We had dinner on the first evening in this restaurant in Thira and decided to go back again the last evening to best finish our holiday in Santorini. We loved Parea Tavern for its Greek cuisine, a large menu, the courtesy and friendliness of the staff. Moreover, it has a wide terrace with a beautiful view. We’ve tried many dishes from the menu such as meat, fish and the typical Moussaka. All very good, tasty and generous portions! What could ask for more?

Address: Thira

Opening times: 12pm-11:30pm

Pricing: 25-35€/pers.

-Anemoloos

Located in the small village of Exo Gonia in the centre of the island, we chose this restaurant to eat good meat. In fact, its menu mainly offers meat dishes and has no fish. The view from our table was beautiful and at the end of the dinner, we were satisfied with everything. If you are looking for a place in the countryside, not pretentious with good meat, this could be for you.

Address: Exo Gonia

Opening times: 01pm-11:30pm

Pricing: 20-30€/pers.

-Almira Restaurant

Along Kamari beach, you’ll find many restaurants offering services/sunbeds on the beach and Almira is our favourite. They offer free sunbeds on the beach, but you’ll have to spend €10 from their bar/restaurant. Good deal! We had lunch with them with fresh roasted fish and fried saganaki, and finally a delicious Baklava. If you come to Kamari, you have to try this place!

Address: Kamari Beach

Opening times: 12pm-12am

Pricing: 10-20€/pers.

-Fougaro Beach

Fougaro Beach was our beach for 3 days during our holiday in Santorini, definitely our favourite! They offer a luxury service but at an acceptable price. We liked this place immediately! The price of the beds (extra-large and very comfortable) is free with consumption from the second row, while the sunbeds in the first row cost €20. The service is impeccable and very kind and the food is fantastic. We tried appetizers, a tasty burger with french fries and perfectly prepared sushi.

Address: Perivolos Beach

Opening times: 08am-07:30pm

Pricing: 20-40€/pers.

-Margarita

A nice and positive choice in Perivolos can be Margarita beach. This beach has a very kind family staff that welcomes you warmly from the beginning. The food is good and the portions are generous. Most of the sunbeds are free.

Address: Perivolos Beach

Opening times: 08am-07:30pm

Pricing: 10-20€/pers.
