Are you looking for the best Instagram spots on the Amalfi coast? Considered one of the most romantic and picturesque places in Italy, the Amalfi Coast is a popular destination for photographers and Instagrammers from all over the world. All the photos you take in these places will increase for sure your Instagram or any social media thanks to the bright colours and breathtaking views. We visited the Amalfi Coast in May and in our view, it’s one of the best months to avoid the crowds of July-August. Keep in mind that every year millions of people visit these beautiful places, for this reason, there are big problems with space and traffic. Therefore, it’s a good choice to visit the Amalfi Coast in off-season periods such as April-May and September-October. That said, let’s start reading!
#1 Spiaggia Grande Positano
The most famous spot on the Spiaggia Grande with the Positano hill in the background is the shot that is worth your trip. As the main beach, this place gets very busy during the summer months with people swimming and sunbathing. We waited for the sunset to take our first photo. After that, we took another one in the evening with all the lights shining on the hill behind us, truly magical. Best time: maybe at sunrise when the sun is in front of the hill.
#2 View of Positano From Above
Walking along via Cristoforo Colombo you will find that wall with tiles next to a staircase. From there the view of Positano and the Spiaggia Grande is simply stunning. Just hold your camera and start taking hundreds of photos! Best time: for a perfect light is better early in the morning than sunset, but also at noon you can get this shot.
#3 Buca Di Bacco
Not just a hotel and restaurant, Buca di Bacco has a picture-perfect entrance with a yellow wall and a vintage poster made of tiles. It’s not easy to get a shot there because the bench is often occupied by tourists. Therefore, you must be patient and wait for your moment with a little luck. Best time: early in the morning this place is uncrowded. However, we took our photo around 11 in the morning.
#4 The Marina In Amalfi
At the centre of the Amalfi Coast, after which it is named, is the town of Amalfi, about 16 km from Positano. The marina in Amalfi is another perfect spot. If you walk on the central quay up to the point you can enjoy a beautiful view of both sides of Amalfi. Best time: it depends on which side of the coast you want to photograph. Therefore, if in doubt do as we did and take your photo at noon and you’ll have no problems with the shadows!
#5 Amalfi Cathedral
One of the most iconic landmarks in Amalfi is its cathedral. The Amalfi Cathedral is also one of the most popular Amalfi Coast Instagram spots. Located in Piazza del Duomo, this Roman Catholic cathedral is dedicated to the Apostle Saint Andrew. The majestic front facade is made of striped marble and stone. Moreover, the interiors can be visited at a cost of around €3. Best time: the staircase is the most fascinating spot and before nine in the morning it’s almost empty. However, pay attention because after 9 am, the square, including the staircase, becomes the most crowded place in Amalfi.
#7 Villa Cimbrone In Ravello
Villa Cimbrone is a charming historic building, also home to a 5-star luxury hotel, located in the town of Ravello. The villa has a large park adorned with statues and fountains. Moreover, Villa Cimbrone boasts a unique terrace, called the Terrace of Infinity overlooking the Gulf of Salerno. It is considered one of the most romantic and breathtaking terraces in the world. We were amazed by the beauty of this view and it was totally worth the cost of the ticket 7€/person. This terrace is truly picture-perfect! Best time: sunset is definitely the best time.
#8 Vietri Sul Mare
During our last day on the Amalfi Coast, we decided to stop for lunch in the town of Vietri Sul Mare. Here we found a colourful street, we do not remember exactly where! However, it was not so difficult and we didn’t miss the opportunity to take a picture. Best time: we found this street just before lunch and there was no one there, maybe it’s not a well-known place.
